The acclaimed debut album by Conya Doss, A Poem About Ms Doss, which has been unavailable for several years, is being released for the first time in the UK and Europe.
Conya Doss’s dynamically explosive yet sensual voice is the heart and soul of her music. Since the original release of the A Poem album in the US in 2002, she has been building a growing fan base on the European and US soul/R&B scene.
Conya built a solid foundation with her engaging debut album, produced by Tony Nicholas and Myron. As well as her stunning cover of the Norman Connors classic ‘Starship’, it also includes such excellent original songs as ‘You Really Hurt Me’, ‘Coffee’ and ‘All Because Of You’.
Amplified wrote: “A great new soul singer…and a very strong record. Conya’s got a sweet and bubbling vocal style that lies somewhere between Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, recorded with backings that mix in just the right sort of warm instrumentation to keep things real”. A Poem About Ms. Doss has been followed by three fine albums - Just Because, Love Rain Down and Still…, all released in Europe.
Cleveland Ohio-based Conya has the innate ability to blend melodic love ballads, soulful R&B and genre-bending grooves into a balanced set. In 2006 she was honoured with a front page feature in Billboard magazine, and more recently she was nominated as Best Female Vocalist by Soultracks, the leading US soul music website In customary Doss form, she takes a giant inventive leap forward on each album, always landing on her feet. And now many more people will be able to enjoy the brilliance of the album that started her career.
